What the NDIS Does
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to eligible Australians living with disability to access supports and services that help them live more independently and participate in everyday life.
NDIS funding is designed to be person-centred, meaning supports are tailored to each individual’s needs, goals, and circumstances. Participants have choice and control over the supports they receive and who provides them.
How the NDIS Works
Once approved for the NDIS, participants receive a personalised plan that outlines their goals and the funding available to help achieve them. This funding can be used for a range of supports, including assistance with daily living, community participation, and capacity building.
Supports may be delivered at home, in the community, or in other settings, depending on the participant’s needs and preferences.
What the NDIS Can Support
NDIS funding may be used for supports that:
- Assist with daily activities and personal care
- Build skills, independence, and confidence
- Support social and community participation
- Help participants connect with services and supports
- Improve overall wellbeing and quality of life
